In less than two weeks, 19 individuals from all 6 locations of The Arc Fresno/Madera Counties will take the stage at the Loewen Achievement Center in Fresno, California. These 19 performers will sing inspirational songs for a musical series titled, The Arc Inspires.
Director Valerie Salcedo, a classical singer, has been working with each of the performers the past month as they practice their stage presence, receive vocal coaching and learn professional stage etiquette. Each performer has had their own set of challenges and has made it a goal to overcome those challenges throughout the rehearsal process.
The chosen 19 auditioned individuals are learning what it’s like to be a professional stage performer. They will even have their hair and makeup done courtesy of Salon Divar of Fresno who are donating their services.
The idea of the theme came about when Director Valerie noticed that many performers would audition with songs that they loved the most. These were songs that inspired them and made them feel most alive. Each performer in this show has chosen their own song to perform.
Some songs you will hear at the show are; You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban, Be A Light by Thomas Rhett, and Just Be Held by Casting Crowns.
